POSITION SUMMARY
The OPERATING ROOM ASSISTANT (ORA) I is responsible for assisting the perioperative team with direct and indirect patient care within requirements and guidelines of this job description. The ORA I, functions as a member of the perioperative team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performs in the areas within the OR (unrestricted, semi-restricted and restricted) adhering to proper surgical attire. Job responsibilities include: maintaining and cleaning the OR and surrounding areas, transporting specimens and blood products, assisting with patient positioning and transport, maintaining adequate supplies for OR room turnover and replacing warmers with fluids and blankets. The ORA I provides care based on the principles of growth and development across the life span of patient and demonstrates the skills necessary to provide direct and indirect care, appropriate to the age of the patients served within perioperative services. The ORA I follows infection control related policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain a clean safe environment for patients and perioperative services associates.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: HS Diploma or GED.
