    Qualifications

    Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy. Required
    Master's Degree MHA/MBA/MFA/MSHSP Required

    Experience
    Ten (10) years Pharmacy practice experience Required
    Eight (8) years leadership/management experience in pharmacy practice or managed care Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Registered Pharmacist (RPh) Must obtain State of Arizona licensure within 90 days after hire Required

    Job Summary
    As a member of the senior pharmacy leadership team, the Associate Vice President of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services is responsible for developing and executing on ambulatory pharmacy services which are congruent with the mission, vision, values and strategic goals of the organization. They will be focused on the development of an overall ambulatory strategic plan that is designed to effectively manage and continuously improve the organizations medication management system. This will be accomplished by develoing a structure to effectively communicate, collaborate, and engage a team of peers and physicians in the ambulatory pharmacy strategy; ensure that measurement of the medication management system aligns with metrics focused on quality, safety, cost, and utilization; execute on a quality improvement plan that ensure the best outcomes through performance-improvement activities; leads drug utilization efforts; optimizes the use of information systems and technology; the ambulatory pharmacy division's financial operations and workforce plan; ensures compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements; fulfil the organization's research and educational missions; and provides institutional representation and leadership in executive level functions.
    • Provides executive business line leadership, direction, decision-making and oversight for all Ambulatory Care Services. Responsible for the development and execution of overall business line strategies to meet current service expectations, member growth and business expansion needs on a local and regional basis, across all Ambulatory Care Clinical Services and Programs. Primary areas of focus include strategic planning; coordination of the planning, implementation, development and evaluation of clinical pharmacy programs; identification and standardization of productivity and performance measures for specific clinician care models; determination of resources to support implementation and support growth of initiatives; space planning and facility design; workflow standardization and consistency; usage of technology; management reporting systems; quality, risk management, and customer service programs and initiatives, and utilization of these items to provide excellence in high quality member services and prudent use of resources. Conducts regular staff meetings and meets individually with staff to review performance, solve problems and promote efficiency. Facilitates solutions to problems and resolves complaints regarding departmental services and activities.
    • Responsible for all aspects of Ambulatory Pharmacy Operations including: specialty pharmacy, retail pharmacy, home delivery, employee prescription program, infusion centers, home infusion, PBM, health plan, and business development: including business growth, customer service, inventory, personnel/staffing, scheduling, compliance, marketing, billing, financial/budgeting responsibility. System responsibility for directing ambulatory care pharmacy operations, strategies, policies and procedures, budget process, project implementations, human resource management and committee representation. Responsible for insuring system consistency and compliance and other regulatory standards, implementing and monitoring financial controls to insure effective utilization of resources through budgeting and analysis of management reports, development of staff and services, as well as organizational performance improvement, quality management, evidence based outcome and setting the communication tone, values and culture of the health system. Key collaboration with pharmacy leadership to develop drug use initiatives and assure appropriate use of pharmaceuticals. He/she will also be responsible for ensuring development and enforcement of all applicable policies, standards and regulations related to Medication Management and AR&L (Accreditation, Regulatory and Licensing). Collaboration across Pharmacy system to ensure successful assessment, engagement, and implementation of best practice systems.
    • Co-leads development and implementation of ambulatory pharmacy strategic plan with VP of Pharmacy services and system entity leaders. Works with business development and other key leaders. Leads creation and implementation of ambulatory pharmacy KPI data plan and performance dashboard. Works with key operations leaders to optimize performance. Leads creation of implementation of people-development plan specific to ambulatory pharmacy in synergy with integrated system wide plan. Drives local operational performance while gaining economies of scale across enterprise. Leads the evaluation and preparation for URAC accreditation and ensure continuous compliance with accreditation standards. Ensure compliance with REMS programs.
    • Oversee the staff and ensure adequate staffing levels, inclusive of hiring/onboarding, evaluating, managing performance, coaching and developing employees ensuring employee productivity, quality of work, and alignment of goals with our mission, vision, and values. Ensure compliance with all policies, financial stewardship by being accountable for the financial integrity around development and maintenance of department budget.
    • Formulates departmental policy and procedure; ensures adherence to hospital, health system and departmental policies and procedures and applicable state and federal. Develops, evaluates and revises departmental policies and procedures while staying within budgetary and resource limits. Enforces health system and hospital’s departmental policies and procedures and ensures compliance with pertinent state and federal laws and regulations. Monitors and controls the controlled drug distribution system ensuring compliance with state and federal laws and regulations governing the practice of pharmacy.
    • Participates on departmental, hospital, health system and school of pharmacy committees, national, state and regional professional organizations.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
