    Job Summary
    Provides a variety of clerical support to the assigned department and promotes a professional and welcoming atmosphere that enhances the quality of service and care offered to clients, patients, and members. The individual must demonstrate a service-oriented attitude and possess the ability to function in a multitask environment, requiring knowledge of office systems and procedures. Clerical duties may be assigned in accordance with the office procedures of individual establishments and may include a combination of answering telephones, data entry, bookkeeping, typing or word processing, office machine operation, retail, money handling, and filing.
    • Answers and handles all incoming telephone calls and assists with confirmation of appointments, screens and routes callers, takes messages, and provides routine information according to established guidelines. Greets visitors, determine nature of visits and provide appropriate information. Retrieves, sorts and delivers department mail.
    • Compute, researches, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports which may contain confidential information. Creates, maintains, and ensures files are complete and up to date. May collect payments, count, and disburse money, do basic bookkeeping, and complete any required data entry. Compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities.
    • Maintains current schedule in order to be knowledgeable of patient’s appointments and to direct customers to appropriate location/service area. May serve as the main receptionist for the department and is the main point of contact for all visitors to the department.
    • Compile training materials and mailings according to established guidelines. Maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer. Make travel arrangements for internal and external customers.
      May train other clerks/staff members to perform work activities.
    • Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers. Prepare meeting agendas, attend meetings, and record and transcribe minutes. Process and prepare documents, such as business or government forms and expense reports. Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests. Performs other related duties as requested or assigned.
