    Qualifications

    Education
    M.D. or D.O licensed or eligible in the state of Arizona. Required

    Experience
    5 years clinical practice experience with demonstrated results leading improvement efforts, multidisciplinary rounds, and projects to reduce clinical variation.
    Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Licensed physician with special interest and in clinical effectiveness and quality improvement.

    Current Medical Staff or is eligible to be on the medical staff with clinical privileges.

    Responsibilities

    Job Summary
    This physician leader will provide medical/clinical direction and support for the development, organization and management of the HonorHealth Clinical Effectiveness program across the continuum of care. Working in a dyad relationships with the Network VP of Case Management and AVP of Clinical Quality Improvement, this physician leader implements and provides oversight of the Honor Health Clinical Effectiveness Initiatives. Chairs the Honor Health Network Clinical Effectiveness Committee and serves as a Key member of the BEST Care Council and HonorHealth physician leadership team. Collaborates closely with senior executive leadership, including the Chief Physician Executive, the Patient Safety Officer, Infection Disease Officer, the Chief Experience Officer, hospital CMOs, HonorHealth Medical Group CMO, service line and clinical area medical directors, Quality Operations, and medical directors of utilization management. The clinical effectiveness committee, composed of key hospitalists, intensivists, and emergency medical directors will have oversight of a portfolio of work including specific high profile initiatives, coordination of local utilization committees, prioritization of projects to ensure excellent outcomes, reduce clinical variation and length of stay and overutilization of resources including inpatient and intensive care resources, imaging, laboratory, blood products, medical devices, and post-acute care. The leader will also be a key participant in the behavioral health, palliative care, post-acute, readmission, and sepsis task forces and may serve as leader of selected service lines or collaboratives appropriate to specialty.
    • Chairs the HonorHealth Network Clinical Effectiveness Committee. Serves as a key member of the BEST Care Council. Attends appropriate clinical service line quality meetings. Serves as a liaison to the Medical Staff, HonorHealth Medical group, and the HonorHealth clinically integrated physician network regarding development of evidence-based care pathways, programs to support effective use of care and create clinical value. Develops strategies to decrease inappropriate use and overuse of resources and decrease care variation. Makes periodic reports to the Quality Committee of the Board on clinical effectiveness.
    • Serves as a role model and contributes to the development of order sets and practice development. These duties include, but are not limited to, review of utilization trends and identification of opportunities to eliminate unnecessary clinical variation; reduce overuse of medical devices, blood products, imaging, pharmaceuticals, laboratory testing, inpatient and intensive care resources and post-acute care.
    • Provides direction on policies and procedures based on current guidelines, evidenced-based practices and scientific data. Leads selected clinical initiatives. Reviews literature and seeks input of peers to determine best practice.
    • Provides medical expertise and direction for the Palliative Care and Behavioral Health programs. In collaboration with the Network VP of Case Management, develops and implements action plans network-wide. Directs and participates in special projects or focus studies. Advises on priority projects and communicates on formal improvement initiatives with Medical staff.
    • Prepares and presents clinical effectiveness educational programs for hospital personnel and medical staff relative to specific needs or quality data. Provides direction and input related to provider communications and performance feedback.
    • Reviews and evaluates documentation and other requirements of regulatory/accreditation /certification agencies and peer review certification organizations related to utilization, OPPE, & FPPE. Clinical support to OPPE process.
    • Supports cross-continuum clinical collaboratives to develop care pathways. Oversees development of clinic metrics in co-management agreements. Partners with Payor Contracting to review and negotiate clinical performance metrics in risk-based contracts.
    • Partners with supply chain/value analysis teams, service line leaders, HonorHealth Medical Group leaders, and clinically integrated network leaders to determine best value products that promote clinical effectiveness.
    • Partners with Chief Academic Officer to develop appropriate CME and GME on critical topics relevant to clinical effectiveness, utilization , coding and documentation,
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
