    Job Summary
    The Perioperative Resource Coordinator position supports the Perioperative Services Department in the management and coordination of supplies. Primary job responsibilities include soft goods acquisition and cost control measures over multiple surgical department budgets which are upwards of $3 million dollars per month. Serves as a resource and liaison between Inpatient Services (IPS), Outpatient Services (OPS), and Surgical Perioperative Department (SPD). Ensures that supplies are delivered to patient care areas as needed.
    • Provides coordination of all the steps of the Perioperative supply chain.
      Coordinates the maintenance of usable stock levels for all supplies.
      Maintains current computerized inventory including MMIS, EMR and Tissue Tracking.
      Continuously monitors budget levels in supply code categories and provides budget-planning information.
      Performs daily inventory of supplies according to par levels and places orders for replacement through appropriate channels.
      Maintains logs of all supplies ordered and received.
      Verifies receipts with actual product received, identifies discrepancies and notifies appropriate departments.
      Receives supplies and shelves items in appropriate locations.
      Maintains appropriate par levels of supplies to minimize waste and overstock.
      Responsible to maintain process for Tissue Tracking.
      Establishes a close working relationship with supply chain staff, vendors, and salespersons.
      Assists Business Manager in the Capital Equipment Process including quotes, and ensuring any consumables needed are reviewed.
    • Provides advance review of all scheduled clinical procedures, collaborates with specialty coordinators, physicians and representatives to obtain all necessary supplies. Responsible for maintaining good working relationships with all hospital departments by providing service, management assistance and open communications.
      Identifies changes in case needs and products using cost-effective methods.
      Communicates any unresolved supply issues/needs with effected department’s charge RN, Business Manager, Specialty Coordinators, Manager of Inventory Operations, Implant Inventory Analyst and Supply Chain Director.
      Works closely with Specialty Coordinators, SPD, Business Manager and Implant Inventory Analyst on identification of instrument replacement and new instrument purchase.
      Participates in discussion with company representatives to review new products with Value Analysis Team, Business Manager and Manager of Inventory Operations.
      Works closely with Specialty Coordinators and others to make arrangements for special supply needs for identified cases.
      Tracks supply ordering, receiving, and posting to the GLAR.
    • Maintains clean and organized work environment.
      Participates as a part of the Perioperative team in the inspection of all supplies for outdates and violation of package integrity and removes such items.
      Provides integral component of communication between Perioperative departments, Purchasing, and Supply Chain regarding supply matters.
    • Follows network policy on recalls.
      Participates in the investigation and removes product recalls as notified by ECRI, Supply Chain, Business Manager or mail.
      Maintains log record for recalled products, sends responses to Supply Chain Operations Director.
      Communicates with Facility Supply Chain, Purchasing and Specialty Coordinator to get appropriate substitute products when necessary.
    • Works closely with Specialty Coordinators, SPD, Business Manager and Implant Inventory Analyst on identification of instrument replacement and new instrument purchase.
      Participates in discussion with company representatives to review new products with Value Analysis Team, Business Manager and Manager of Inventory Operations.
      Works closely with Specialty Coordinators and others to make arrangements for special supply needs for identified cases.
      Tracks supply ordering, receiving, and posting to the GLAR.
    • Participates actively in the maintenance of the annual operation department budget.
      Ensures appropriate inventory and routine ordering of department supplies, appropriate for departmental needs as demonstrated by feedback and audit.
      Participates actively in the annual budgetary process as demonstrates by observation and audit.
      Submits documentation to the Business Manager, an evaluation of supply usage reports for internal and external vendors.
      Seeks opportunities for increased cost effective measures and provides input regarding maintaining or decreasing costs.
      Anticipates, recognizes and reports situations to the Business Manager, Manager of Inventory Operations, Implant Analysts and Supply Chain Operations Director, which may adversely affect financial outcomes.
      Collaborates with Surgical Systems Report regarding inventory management.
      Reviews all financial reports on a continual basis to ensure correct posting of supply expenses.
    • Consistently maintains Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) and other Honorhealth compliance requirements.
      Frequently views medical information in patient electronic medical record (EMR) system.
      Occasionally enters non-clinical information in to patient electronic medical record (EMR) system. Ensures all required information is keyed in thoroughly and accurately.
      Frequently views non-clinical information in patient electronic medical record.
      On a constant basis, independently formulates information to be entered into the EMR.
      Constantly logs, tracks and resolves issues within specific time frame to ensure accuracy and timeliness of data entry.
      Proactively takes ownership of issues and participates in problem resolution process; escalates issues to designee as necessary.
      Brings errors and/or issues to the attention of designee.
      Constantly navigates through multiple complex EMR screens and views data.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
