    Qualifications

    Education
    High School Diploma or GED or certificate from an accredited Dental Assistant program. Required

    Experience
    2 years years in progressively responsible roles within a dental practice, including experience in electronic dental record systems, front and back office duties in a supervisory/lead role. Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Fingerprint Clearance Card (NOAH) Required

    Responsibilities

    Job Summary
    The Dental Supervisor plans, coordinates, trains and supervises the activities of the dental clinical support staff (Dental Assistants). This position will provide the systems, support, and implement protocols and processes to meet organizational
    goals, including, but not limited to productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction. The Dental Supervisor assists with hiring, training and performance evaluations of the dental assistants. The Dental Supervisor must have a vast knowledge of dental back and front office procedures including but not limited to sterilization and infection control protocols, chairside assisting, dental prior authorizations, and insurance benefits. The Dental Supervisor directly supports the Dental Director/Practice Manager and serves as a back-up during the Dental Director/Practice Manager's absence and as is the direct line of supervision for all dental clinical support staff.

    • Oversees dental clinical support staff (back office staff). Assists with hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating the dental back office staff while maintaining established state and federal standards and monitors for compliance. Ensures dental back office is fully staffed and supervises the daily operations of the dental back office. Assists the dental director, practice manager and MA supervisor in preparing time and attendance reports for all dental staff. Ensures all annual proficiency exams, quality controls, equipment checks and logs are done accurately and timely. Completes changes in classification, salary action, promotion, demotion, transfer, and termination of dental back office staff. Administers performance evaluation of dental back office staff in collaboration with the Practice Manager. Administers dental back office staff disciplinary process. Trains employees on practice management software. Assures that all outdated materials are removed and disposed of properly in a timely manner consistent with applicable regulations. Monitor departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with budgetary perimeters.
    • Manages and assists with overall operations of the dental department throughout the organization with interaction from the Practice Managers and Dental Director to ensure standardization within the policies,procedures and workflows. Develop and maintain dental back office policies and procedures, informing staff of all updates or changes. Ensures functions in area of responsibility are completed accurately and appropriately. Ensures dental back office operations meet regulatory guidelines according to state and federal regulations , equipment is in working order and appropriate inventory of supplies is maintained. Maintains dentists’ schedules.
    • Maintain knowledge of Dental office administration includes entering, viewing, and evaluating dental information within a patient electronic dental record (EDR) system. Is a super user on the EDR system, ensures all dental back office staff are trained to enter required information accurately. Obtains information from multiple sources such as providers, and other clinicians. Brings errors and or issues to the attention of the Dental Director and Practice Manager. Operates dental back office areas within budget guidelines and identifies opportunities in cost containment. Provides information and analysis to Practice Manager as needed.
    • Provides support to the dental providers with direct patient care as needed. Ability to assist in developing procedures to triage patients, obtaining patient vital signs, patient dental and social history. Assists dental providers with exams and clinical procedures as needed. Provides assistance with all dental diagnostic procedures, dental treatment and sterilization. Applies sterile techniques and proper handling of contaminated body fluids. Assists with scheduling patient appointments as needed, answers patient phone messages promptly, assists with provider administrative needs. Performs Dental Assisting, Registration and Scheduling duties as needed.
