    Qualifications

    Education
    Master's Degree with at least 10 years related experience in at least on work related area, such as clinical research, healthcare, administration, leadership, public policy, business administration, life sciences or health services research Required

    Experience
    10 years Minimum 10 years of experience in management of research operations and research administration in a hospital or university setting Required
    Other Demonstrated ability to build collaborative governance with physician scientists, researchers, administrators, and staff. Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance professional (CHRC) OR eligible for certification
    Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) certification OR eligible for Certification Required

    Responsibilities

    Job Summary
    The Director of Research Administration (DRA) is a key leadership position in the HonorHealth Research Institute (HRI) that will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO). DRA is responsible for the full integration of translational research operations and clinical research at HonorHealth Research Institute to bring tomorrow's cures to our community today. DRA with a clinical & translational research focus, will support the scientific research and discovery through the development of the HonorHealth Research Incubator. The HonorHealth Research Incubator provides a fiscally responsible platform for physician-scientists, researchers, and clinicians to develop and grow quality research ideas and research programs in a manner that supports the Research Institute's goals and benefits our patients. Responsibilities will include providing high-level management in the overall Institute's business operations and administrative functions through Personnel Management, Outreach, Technology, Grants Management and Development. The DRA is accountable for efficient process development, management, research integration, and effective recruitment of personnel, capital planning, clinical research programs and new program development for the HonorHealth Research Incubator. The Administrative director will work closely with physician scientists, administrators, clinicians, and researchers to understand their goals and provide recommendations and business models for the growth and advancement of the respective programs, ensuring its integrity at every point while adjudicating complex issues pertaining to access to Cores/Shared Resources. Other general support includes close coordination with the HonorHealth Foundations as well as organization, implementation and participation in HRI related leadership and scientific meetings and events.
    • Clinical Research Programs: Develop productive relationships with industry, non-profits, and academic entities that drive economic development and entrepreneurial opportunity consistent with HRI’s mission and purpose with the highest standards of integrity. Encourage strong working relationships with internal constituencies including HonorHealth leadership, hospital administration, physicians, investigators, and other members of the communities associated with research and innovation, entrepreneurial activities, technology transfer, and economic development.
    • Research Support Services: Leads and directs the planning, training, and implementing initiatives in the pre-award area. Serves as the key point of contact for all major issues relating to the pre-award functions. Oversees benchmarking to assess the implementation of pre-award support and reports evaluations results to HRI senior leadership. Directs and/or supports the development, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures relative to pre-award services. Facilitates resolution on the negotiation of troublesome terms and conditions in federal contracts, industry supported research, and other sponsored agreements. Responsible and accountable for the direction and/or review of proposals prior to submission to sponsoring agencies for the adequacy, completeness, consistency of content and presentation, and compliance with sponsor criteria and HonorHealth policies and procedures. Ensures presence of required information and certifications, use of appropriate documentation, templates, and forms, etc. Responds to requests for additional information pending issuance of awards, supplementing, clarifying, or revising proposal submission.
    • Innovation Core: Directs the Innovation core, represents core directors and scientific directors, develops business plans, budgets, and assesses personnel needs of the shared resources/cores. Develops and administers realistic operating budgets that are achieved or exceeded. Develops departmental budgets and corrects negative variances from expected fiscal outcomes. Unanticipated volume or budget variances are identified in a timely manner and corrected. Volume or budget deviations are identified and discussed with Senior Leadership in a timely manner. Provides clear direction regarding budget expectations to all subordinates and providers that includes assigning work responsibilities, setting performance expectations, and defining desired outcomes.
    • Administrative Oversight & Community Outreach: Oversees or develops, implements and trains staff on internal procedures and guidelines. Supervises operations staff and Clinical program administrators as assigned. Executes the full range of personnel management and training responsibilities. Leads the effort to develop performance indicators for comparison with benchmarking data in support Honor Health Research mission. Seeks out and promotes good working relations with research and educational partners. Initiates and responds to communications regarding problematic issues. Collaborates in the analysis and problem solving to determine the best action to be taken. Follows through to insure timely response to external customer requests and requirements. Participates as the representative of the HonorHealth Research Institute in meetings, community committees, and professional national organizations. Collaborates with colleagues at other institutions on issues of mutual importance.
