    2 years of sterile processing experience Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Sterile Process/Dist Tech (CSPDT) or equivalent Required

    Responsibilities

    Job Summary
    This position is responsible for general staff oversight and providing guidance on staff assignments. Exercise judgement in collaboration with the Operating Room (OR) in determining the priority level of processing instrumentation and equipment. Coordinate and plan flow of instrumentation throughout department. Hold staff accountable for shift goals and assignments. Possess good communication, teambuilding and collaboration skills with staff and the Perioperative team. Collaborate with management team to meet/exceed quality and productivity targets. Collaborate with the Management team and/or the CSPD Educator on staff education and improvement goals. Responsible for instrument decontamination, preparation and sterilization, case cart assembly, documentation of all sterilization processes, and delivery of a wide variety of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment to the Perioperative team. Ensure standards are met in accordance with departmental policies, procedures and established industry standards. Will serve as a HonorHealth role model by incorporating responsibility and accountability for the vision, values, mission and critical goals of the organization into their job performance. Will assist in precepting staff. Will assist with providing data on IUSS, instrumentation needs, quality testing and other quality metrics to management. Review staff performance to provide input to management for evaluations or other personnel actions.
    • Delegate daily staff assignments. Ensure policies, procedures and guidelines are being followed. Determine priority of assignments. Oversee IUSS documentation and instrumentation needs. Serve as a resource. Coordinate with management teams on instrumentation/supply needs. Assist with staffing/productivity. Collaborate with the Management team and/or CSPD Educator on staff education/improvement goals.
    • Utilize chemical agents and automated decontamination machinery to clean and decontaminate instrumentation and medical equipment.
    • Assemble, prep and pack instrumentation. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, proper function, breakage, and intact ID tape. Assemble trays using instrument tray lists. Locate and replace missing instruments; identify and label missing instruments. Contain, wrap or pouch instruments and sets. Choose appropriate wrapping materials for size, weight, and sterilization method.
    • Sterilize instruments following prescribed procedures and guidelines. Challenge the sterilization process using internal, external, and biological monitoring systems. Monitor, read, document, and interpret parameters for all types of sterilization processes to ensure proper function and validation of process. Maintain appropriate load configurations. Maintain flow of instruments through the sterilization process. Prioritize instrumentation needs using instrument needs list.
    • Pick case carts according to resource map requisitions. Document case cart deficiencies on daily case cart needs list. Fill case cart needs list prior to case cart utilization. Order sterile supplies from logistics as needed to maintain inventory. Pick cases, stock the sterile storage area, and return sterile supplies to inventory. Collaborate with perioperative sterile core personnel to determine priorities and maintain flow within sterile storage area.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
