    M.D. or D.O with board certification in approved specialty Required

    Five (5) years clinical practice experience Required
    Two (2) years administrative/leadership experience Required

    Licenses and Certifications
    Licensed physician with special interest and in Patient Safety. Current member of the HonorHealth Medical Staff or is eligible to be on medical staff with clinical privileges. Required


    Job Summary
    This physician leader will provide medical/clinical direction and support for the development, organization, and management of the HonorHealth Patient Safety program across the continuum of care. Chairs' the HonorHealth Network Patient Safety Committee and serves as a Key member of the BEST Care Council and physician leadership team, collaborating closely with senior leadership, the Infection Disease Officer, Chief Pharmacy Officer, the Chief Patient Experience Officer, hospital CMOs, HonorHealth Medical Group CMO, Chief Medical Information Officer, service line and clinical area medical directors, risk management, and medical directors of utilization management. In collaboration with the Network RN Manager of Patient Safety and the Network RN Director of Regulatory & Accreditation, this physician leader implements and provides oversight of the HonorHealth Patient Safety Initiatives. Monitors and evaluates network-wide safety outcomes including incident reporting, patient safety initiatives, and electronic trigger tools.
    • Chairs the HonorHealth Network Patient Safety Committee. Serves as a key member of the BEST Practices Care Council. Attends appropriate clinical service line quality meetings. Serves as a liaison to the Medical Staff, HonorHealth Medical Group, and the HonorHealth clinically integrated physician network regarding serious events, clinical practice matters and patient safety plan. Makes periodic reports to the quality Quality committee Committee of the board Board and the Medical Staff on Patient Safety Initiatives and Performance.
    • Provides direction on policies and procedures based on current guidelines, evidenced based practices and scientific data. Leads selected patient safety initiatives. Reviews literature and seeks input of peers to determine best practice
    • Serves as a role model and contributes to Patient Safety policy and practice development. These duties include, but are not limited to, review of event reporting trends; review of Sentinel and Serious Safety Events, Safety Culture Surveys, and providing input to the patient safety plan. Active participation in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process, including leadership and attendance at selected RCAs. Assists safety consult with physician interviews.
    • Provides medical expertise and direction for patient safety event investigation. In collaboration with the network director of patient safety Chief Quality Officer and safety team, develops and implements action plans to prevent re-occurrence of serious safety events network-wide. Directs and participates in special projects or focus studies pertaining to patient safety issues. Advises on priority projects and communicates on formal improvement initiatives with Medical Staff.
    • Prepares and presents patient safety educational programs for hospital personnel safety consultants, caregivers across the enterprise, and medical staff. relative to specific needs or quality data. Provides direction, support, and input related to provider communications, performance feedback and physician behavior issues that impact a culture of safety. Partners with Chief Academic Officer to develop appropriate CME and GME on critical patient safety topics.
    • Serves as key leader for the Communication & Optimal Resolution program (CANDOR). May be called upon to communicate with patients and families regarding adverse outcomes and serious events and in collaboration with Risk Management and local teams. serves Serves as a resource for ongoing event-related communication. Supports care for giver program along with Chief Patient Experience Officer.
    • Partners with informatics, supply chain/value analysis teams, service line leaders, and HonorHealth Medical Group leaders, and clinically integrated network leaders to determine best value products that promote patient safety.
    • Reviews and evaluates documentation and other requirements of regulatory/accreditation/certification agencies and peer review certification organizations related to patient safety and support DNV accreditation process.
    • Supports Network Drug Diversion Program and Network Drug Diversion Specialist. Attends Network Drug Diversion Committee meetings and serves as key liaison with anesthesia providers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
